A new eyewear recovery center was opened today by the mayor of Sedico, Giovanni Piccoli, for Fondazione OneSight, Luxottica’s family of charity programs aimed at improving the lives of people in need through research, donations and educational projects in the field of eyesight.
The Sedico eyewear recovery center will play a vital role in providing OneSight’s international structure with reconditioned glasses ready to be distributed free of charge by Luxottica volunteers in some of the world’s poorest countries.
The Sedico center will work alongside the three other facilities already in service, one in Agordo (Belluno), founded in 2005, one in Pederobba (Treviso), created in 2008, and one in Milan, opened in 2009. OneSight’s eyewear recovery centers in Italy recondition over 100,000 pairs of glasses a year thanks to the efforts of over 200 volunteers.
